Latest leak suggests iPhone 17 Air could be Apple’s thinnest device yet

A recent video leak has revealed what might be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date—the iPhone 17 Air. The footage, published by popular tech YouTuber Lewis George Hilsenteger on Unbox Therapy, showcases mock-ups of the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup reportedly sourced from manufacturing partners in China.

In the video, Hilsenteger examines multiple dummy models, including the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the much-anticipated iPhone 17 Air. The moment he picks up the Air model, his reaction is one of visible shock, highlighting just how incredibly slim the device appears.

iPhone 17 Air stuns with 5.65mm thickness

The iPhone 17 Air is shown in the video to be just 5.65mm thick, significantly thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which measures around 8.75mm. While Apple has not officially confirmed the dimensions, the dummy model’s thin profile has already triggered a wave of speculation in the tech community.

Despite its striking design, Hilsenteger raises concerns about durability. He notes that the ultra-thin build could make the device feel fragile, suggesting that bending or breakage could be a real issue if Apple hasn’t reinforced the structure. “If Apple makes this sturdy, it will sell like hot cakes,” he says.

Possible compromises for design’s sake

To achieve such a slim frame, Apple may have had to make some compromises. The Air model could potentially feature a smaller battery and might include only a single camera lens. Features typically reserved for the Pro and Pro Max variants could be absent or significantly downgraded in the Air version.

While the final specifications remain under wraps, speculation continues to swirl across social media. The video has intensified curiosity about the iPhone 17 lineup and what Apple might reveal later this year.

Fashion-first appeal and what’s ahead

With its razor-thin profile, the iPhone 17 Air may appeal especially to style-conscious consumers. However, industry analysts are watching closely to see whether form will come at the cost of function.

Apple is also rumored to be working on a budget-friendly model within the iPhone 17 series, which could broaden its appeal across diverse market segments.

As always, the full truth will be revealed only in September, when Apple officially unveils its next-generation iPhones.
