Luxury $7M Hamptons mansion trashed: Couple Faces $50K damage allegations

A luxury Hamptons mansion rental turned into a legal dispute after the homeowners claimed that renters Damien and Tina Vanderwilt caused over $50,000 in damages to their $7 million Water Mill estate.

The couple, who paid $100,000 for a month-long stay in the four-bed, six-bath mansion, allegedly left behind damaged hardwood floors, ruined Alpaca blankets, and destroyed property, according to the lawsuit filed by owner Lior Yahalomi.

Key allegations:

  • Floor Damage: The couple reportedly dragged a heavy Hastens bed and foosball table across 100 feet of wooden flooring, causing significant scratches.
  • Ruined Items: The lawsuit claims the Vanderwilts damaged $2,000 cashmere blankets, three $990 Alpaca blankets, and a $272 cornhole table left outside in the rain.
  • Additional Claims: Yahalomi is also seeking $9,000 for delayed cleaning caused by the Vanderwilts refusing his cleaning team access during Labor Day weekend.

Yahalomi, a private equity fund executive, described the couple as the “most disrespectful” tenants he’s ever had in several years of renting the property.

The Vanderwilts’ response:

Tina Vanderwilt has denied the allegations, calling them “completely unfounded and not true.”

The lawsuit underscores the risks homeowners face in high-end rental agreements, even when tenants pay top dollar. As legal proceedings continue, the case highlights the complexities of luxury property management and tenant accountability.
