After weeks of anticipation, People magazine has announced actor-filmmaker John Krasinski as the Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. Krasinski, known for his charming roles and his celebrated film career, was taken by surprise when he heard the news.

“Immediate blackout,” says Krasinski

The 45-year-old actor, who rose to fame as Jim Halpert in The Office, shared his candid reaction with People magazine: “Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he admitted. He jokingly added, “Other than maybe I’m being punked. That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day I’ll be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet, it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”

A family man at heart

Krasinski may be a Hollywood star, but he considers his role as a devoted husband and father to be the most rewarding. He has been married to British actress Emily Blunt for 14 years. The couple shares two daughters, Hazel (10) and Violet (8). Krasinski was eager to break the news to Blunt, who responded with humor.

“There was a lot of joy involved in me telling her,” he said, adding that Blunt joked about covering their home in wallpaper featuring the People magazine cover with his photo. Krasinski praised their marriage, saying, “It’s that beautiful thing where when you’re married to someone, you’re constantly learning and changing and evolving. And I’m so lucky to go through all that with her.”

The actor lightheartedly speculated on how the title might impact his daily life, quipping, “I think it’s going to make me do more household chores.”

Following in the footsteps of Hollywood icons

Krasinski joins a prestigious list of past honorees, including Patrick Dempsey, Paul Rudd, Idris Elba, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds.

From ‘The Office’ to box office hits

While many fans still remember Krasinski as the sardonic “nice guy” Jim Halpert in The Office, his career has spanned far beyond sitcoms. He delivered a standout performance in Michael Bay’s 13 Hours and showcased his action chops as the lead in Jack Ryan on Prime Video.

Krasinski has also established himself as a successful filmmaker. He starred in, wrote, produced, and directed IF, a film declared a box office hit. Additionally, he directed A Quiet Place and its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, both of which starred Blunt and received critical acclaim.

Krasinski’s blend of humor, talent, and charisma has earned him a special place in Hollywood, and this new accolade only adds to his impressive list of achievements.
