White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, has announced she is expecting her second child — and the news has quickly taken over social media for more than one reason.

Leavitt shared photos of her baby bump on Christmas Day, revealing that she and her husband, real estate entrepreneur Nicholas Riccio, are expecting a baby girl in May 2026. The couple already share a 17-year-old son, Niko.

While the announcement was celebratory, public attention soon shifted to Leavitt’s personal life — particularly the 32-year age gap between her and her husband.

A Christmas Announcement That Caught Attention

Leavitt shared the news on Instagram with a heartfelt message celebrating motherhood and family.

“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for — a baby girl coming in May 2026,” she wrote.
“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”

Who Is Nicholas Riccio?

A Real Estate Entrepreneur With a ‘Rags to Riches’ Story

Nicholas Riccio is a real estate investor and businessman based in New Hampshire. He owns Riccio Enterprises, a company that manages more than 15 rental properties in Hampton Beach, a popular coastal area.

According to public accounts:

• Riccio studied at Plymouth State University
• He has spoken openly about experiencing financial hardship and even homelessness during his early years
• Over time, he built a successful property business, often describing his journey as self-made

His story has been cited as an example of perseverance, though recent attention has focused less on his career and more on his personal life.

Why Is Social Media Talking About the Age Gap?

Riccio is 60 years old, while Leavitt is 28.

The couple reportedly met in 2022, when Leavitt was 25 and running for Congress in New Hampshire. She appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show during her campaign, which she ultimately lost to Democrat Chris Pappas.

Online critics were quick to point out the timeline:

• Riccio was 32 when Leavitt was born
• He was 50 when she turned 18
• He will be 78 years old when their child graduates from high school

These numbers fueled intense discussion across social platforms, with some users questioning the optics and power dynamics of the relationship.

One viral comment read:

“He was 32 when she was born and will be nearly 80 when the child graduates. I’m tired of people normalizing this.”

Others defended the couple, arguing that both are consenting adults and that public scrutiny has crossed a line.

Leavitt Has Addressed the Age Gap Before

Leavitt has previously acknowledged that the age difference raised eyebrows, even for her.

In past interviews, she described the relationship as “atypical” at first but emphasized that Riccio has been supportive of her career.

“He’s built a very successful business himself, so now he’s fully supportive of me building my success in my career,” she said.

Supporters say her rise, from congressional candidate to White House press secretary at just 27, reflects independence rather than influence.

Why This Story Is Gaining So Much Attention

The interest goes beyond celebrity curiosity. The story sits at the intersection of:

• Politics and public image
• Gender and power dynamics

Leavitt is one of the youngest people ever to hold the role of White House Press Secretary, and her personal life is now being examined with the same intensity as her professional one.

What Happens Next?

For now, Leavitt appears focused on her growing family and her role in the administration. Whether the online discussion fades or intensifies will likely depend on how much she chooses to engage with it.

What remains clear is this: Her pregnancy announcement has sparked one of the most talked-about political lifestyle stories of the season — blending personal milestones with public scrutiny in a way few public divs can avoid.
