What Happened During the 345 Park Avenue Shooting?

On the evening of July 28, a gunman, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, entered the lobby of 345 Park Avenue carrying an assault rifle. He opened fire, killing four, including LePatner and an off-duty NYPD officer, Didarul Islam, before dying of a self-inflicted wound on an upper floor.

At least one other person was critically injured. Law enforcement continues to investigate Tamura’s motives, but reports indicate a history of mental illness and a note referencing grievances involving the NFL and CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a brain disease associated with head trauma in sports.
