Trump’s visit, focused on his Turnberry and Aberdeen golf resorts, is drawing both admiration and outrage, and it’s coming at a significant cost to Scottish taxpayers.

Heavy Police Deployment for Security Operation

Thousands of officers in standard-issue high-visibility gear were seen patrolling beaches, dunes, and grasslands surrounding Turnberry. Police Scotland has not disclosed the exact number of deployed personnel, citing operational confidentiality, but Assistant Chief Constable Emma Bond confirmed the operation involves “local, national, and specialist resources from across Police Scotland,” with additional support from other UK forces under mutual aid agreements.

David Kennedy, General Secretary of the Scottish Police Federation, said approximately 5,000 officers are expected to participate. “We want the president of the United States to be able to come to Scotland. That’s not what this is about,” he explained. “It’s the current state of the police service and the numbers we have [that] cause great difficulty.”
