Elon Musk claimed that Trump is on the Epstein files

Elon Musk has ignited a political firestorm by alleging that President Donald Trump’s name appears in unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files, suggesting this as the reason for their continued secrecy. This claim emerges amid escalating tensions between Musk and Trump, marking a significant rupture in their previously amicable relationship.

Musk’s explosive allegation

Elon Musk has stirred controversy with a bold allegation that President Trump is named in documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Musk claimed on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), but did not provide any evidence to support the assertion.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk wrote.

The statements signal a dramatic escalation in the ongoing and increasingly acrimonious feud between Musk and Trump.

Fallout from the Feud

The public dispute between Musk and Trump intensified after Musk criticized Trump’s new tax bill, which proposed eliminating electric vehicle tax credits, a move that would directly impact Tesla. In retaliation, Trump threatened to revoke government contracts with Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.

The market responded swiftly; Tesla’s stock plummeted by 14%, erasing approximately $20 billion from Musk’s net worth. This financial hit underscores the high stakes involved in the Musk-Trump conflict.

Trump told reporters, “I’m very disappointed in Elon.” I’ve helped Elon a lot.” He also accused the Tesla CEO of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” suggesting Musk was acting out due to his absence from the political sphere.

Musk’s exit from DOGE heightens fallout

The dispute escalated further when Musk stepped down from his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a Trump-era initiative aimed at streamlining federal operations. His resignation, which came just days before his remarks, appears to have accelerated the rift.

Musk rejects involvement in controversial bill

After Trump suggested that Musk felt upset about changes to electric vehicle incentives, Musk directly denied knowing about or contributing to the bill.

“False. This bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it,” he wrote on X.

Broader implications

Musk’s allegations have reverberated through political and media circles. Right-wing commentators expressed dismay over the deteriorating relationship between Musk and Trump, with some viewing it as a significant loss for conservative unity.

Musk’s assertion that Trump is named in the unreleased Epstein files adds a new dimension to their escalating feud. As both divs wield considerable influence in political and technological spheres, the implications of this conflict could have far-reaching consequences.
