A small medevac jet carrying six individuals tragically crashed into a residential neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday, January 31, shortly after takeoff from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The incident, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. ET, has left the community in shock and raised serious concerns regarding aviation safety.

Disturbing audio recordings from the air traffic control tower reveal frantic attempts to reach the Learjet 55 before it went down. “What’s going on down there?” one air traffic controller can be heard asking, while another responds, “We have a lost aircraft. We’re not exactly sure what happened. So, we’re trying to div it out”.

Details of the crash and victims

The Learjet was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it crashed just three miles from the airport. Among the six victims were four crew members and two passengers, including a young girl who had recently received “life-saving treatment” in the United States. Shai Gold, a spokesman for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, expressed his sorrow over the loss, stating, “She fought quite a lot to survive, and unfortunately this tragedy on the way home”.
