Son sentenced after mother’s tragic death

An 80-year-old disabled mother from Ohio died after being left on the floor for ten days by her son following a fall inside their shared home.

Gayle Gamel passed away in the hospital after paramedics were eventually called to her residence in Colerain Township, Cincinnati. Her son, Michael Gamel, 48, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in November 2024, following her death in 2021.

Despite his guilty plea, a judge opted not to impose a prison sentence during his sentencing on Tuesday. Instead, Gamel was placed on probation for five years and ordered to undergo treatment at the River City Correctional Center, though the nature of his treatment remains undisclosed, according to WXIX.
