Emily James, a 27-year-old trans woman from Kansas City, has captured global attention after revealing her plans to transform the six ribs she had surgically removed into a crown. The procedure, which cost $17,000, was undertaken for cosmetic reasons to achieve a smaller waist.

Speaking about her decision, Ms. James told the New York Post, “I plan on having someone make a crown out of them. They let me keep the ribs, and I was initially going to gift them to my best friend.”
