Sophia Ross, a 22-year-old Hooters waitress, found herself in the spotlight after bodycam footage revealed her unconventional attempts to avoid a DUI arrest in Sarasota, Florida. The incident, which occurred in November, has surfaced this week, shedding light on her bizarre behavior during the traffic stop.

Flirting attempts captured on bodycam

Ross, wearing the signature Hooters tank top under a sweatshirt, repeatedly flirted with the arresting officer, referring to him as “daddy” multiple times. “We’re gonna make out here,” she suggested at one point, a proposal swiftly rejected by the officer. Despite his professional demeanor, she persisted with remarks like, “I can’t keep my hands off of you.”

In the footage obtained by WFTV, Ross also lifted her sweatshirt to show off her Hooters uniform, seemingly in an attempt to win over the cop. However, her efforts were met with amusement rather than success, as the officer informed her that the interaction was being recorded.

When her advances failed, Ross resorted to mocking the officer, calling him a “nerd” and repeating the phrase, “I am a nerd,” as he explained the implications of the bodycam footage. “Anything we do is recorded, and anyone can see that—mom, dad, grandma, family,” the officer warned. Ross replied dismissively, “You think I give a f—k?”

Arrest and charges

The field sobriety tests were never conducted; instead, Ross was immediately taken into custody.

According to Law and Crime, Ross was charged with DUI but pleaded not guilty, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Authorities reported that Ross was stopped after allegedly halting at green lights and hitting multiple curbs, as detailed in a police report obtained by WFTV. The report also revealed Ross admitted to drinking at a bar before being pulled over.

Public reaction

The incident has sparked a mix of humor and criticism online, with many pointing to the challenges officers face during traffic stops. Despite her antics, authorities maintained professionalism throughout the ordeal, showcasing the importance of body-worn cameras in ensuring transparency.
