Holiday-themed prank raises questions about animal welfare

Las Vegas animal rescue organizations are investigating reports of pigeons adorned with glued-on Santa hats, a bizarre sight that has left many questioning the motives and implications of the stunt. The concerning spectacle was captured on video in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center, drawing widespread attention after the footage was shared online.

The incident recalls a similar occurrence nearly five years ago when pigeons in Las Vegas were spotted wearing tiny cowboy hats. While the earlier episode amused some, it also raised alarms among animal welfare advocates. The new sightings suggest that someone may be repeating the practice, this time with holiday-themed accessories.

Animal rescue crews are now working to determine whether the glued hats could harm the pigeons. The use of adhesives, in particular, has sparked concern among experts. “We need to ensure that these birds are not being injured or placed in distress by these actions,” said a local animal rescue spokesperson.

Authorities are calling on the public to assist in identifying those responsible and to report any additional sightings. “If anyone has information or encounters these pigeons, we urge them to come forward so we can investigate and take appropriate action,” added the spokesperson.

Ongoing investigation

The investigation is currently in its early stages, with animal rescue teams focused on assessing the welfare of the pigeons and removing the hats if possible. Officials have emphasized the importance of treating all animals humanely, regardless of the apparent lighthearted nature of such pranks.

This latest episode has reignited a broader discussion about the ethical treatment of urban wildlife, with advocates calling for greater awareness and stricter measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
