Tragic discovery

“A short time later, Deputies learned that a one-year-old male child was inside the residence alone with Demskiy and that he had possibly injured the child after throwing him,” stated the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in their official release. Concerned for the child’s safety, deputies decided to force entry into the home.

Upon entering, law enforcement faced continued resistance from Demskiy, who became “physically resistive” during the attempted detention. In a horrifying turn of events, deputies discovered the infant’s remains in the bedroom, where they ultimately apprehended the suspect.

Investigation and charges

Investigators have determined that after his wife and mother-in-law fled the residence, Demskiy allegedly used a knife to commit the brutal act against his son. The suspect has been transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he awaits his first court appearance scheduled for December 24.

Community response

Local Sacramento residents and community leaders have expressed shock and grief over the incident. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is expected to file formal charges in what officials are describing as one of the most disturbing cases in recent county history.

Crisis counselors have been made available to first responders and affected family members through the Sacramento County Crisis Response Team.
