Rockland County executive pens urgent letter to President Biden amid ongoing aerial enigma

Tensions are mounting in New York and New Jersey as unexplained drone sightings continue to perplex local authorities and residents, prompting Rockland County Executive Ed Day to take unprecedented action in seeking federal intervention.

The drone phenomenon, which has been ongoing since mid-November, reached a critical point on Thursday evening when at least four unidentified drones were spotted traversing Rockland County and extending into New Jersey. Local law enforcement and county officials are increasingly concerned about the repeated, unexplained aerial incursions.

Direct appeal to the president

In a bold move, Day has formally written to President Joe Biden, demanding comprehensive investigations from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “The silence surrounding these incidents is completely unacceptable,” Day emphasized during a press conference on Friday.

Sheriff Louis Falco has urged residents to remain vigilant, implementing a “see something, say something” protocol. Residents are instructed to immediately contact 911 if they witness any drone activity, with law enforcement promising to dispatch officers to investigate and collaborate with federal agencies.

Theories and speculation

While an expert suggested to Fox Business that the drone sightings could represent a potential distraction tactic by a hostile foreign power, federal officials have been reluctant to confirm any specific narrative. Remarkably, they have been unable to verify over 3,000 reported drone sightings across the region.

The ongoing mystery has even drawn commentary from former President Donald Trump, who has accused officials of information suppression and provocatively suggested shooting down the unidentified drones.

Continuing investigations

Rockland County officials have committed to maintaining transparency, promising to keep the public informed as investigations progress. The commitment comes amid growing public anxiety about the unexplained aerial activity.

The drone incidents raise significant questions about national security, airspace monitoring, and the capabilities of federal agencies to respond to emerging technological challenges.
