Motive: A dispute over lifestyle choices

Voigt reportedly told authorities that the shooting stemmed from his father’s frustration with his lifestyle, specifically criticizing his son for spending most of his time playing video games and not seeking employment.

Law enforcement response

Bartow police department spokesperson Stephen Walker expressed the community’s shock, stating, “Everything we’ve heard about this couple was that they were really good people. It’s sad to see something like this happen.”
