A Japanese man was arrested on November 25 after breaking into a house, shocking police with his extraordinary explanation for his repeated home invasions. The suspect claimed that breaking into homes was his stress-relief mechanism, admitting to over 1,000 such incidents. A police official confirmed to AFP that he was detained on Monday for allegedly trespassing on a property in Dazaifu, southern Japan.
The man revealed to police that he found the act thrilling, stating, “I get so thrilled that my palms sweat when wondering if someone will discover me or not, and it relieves some stress.” Remarkably, investigations showed he had not stolen anything or harmed anyone during these break-ins.
When discovered in a homeowner’s compound, security was immediately alerted, leading to his arrest. The Japanese man’s candid admission of treating home invasion as a “hobby” left law enforcement perplexed.
While most people manage stress through conventional activities like exercise, art, or music, this individual chose a dangerous and illegal method of stress relief that put numerous households at risk.
