The incident comes in the wake of recent congressional hearings about alleged secret government programs involving unidentified spacecraft, adding fuel to the speculative fire.

Expert perspectives offer alternative explanations

Not everyone was convinced of an extraterrestrial encounter. John Greenewald Jr., a prominent researcher and ufologist, offered a more mundane explanation. “The lights at the U.S. Capitol building have been causing ‘UFO sightings’ in the camera lens for decades & decades,” he stated, suggesting the phenomenon was likely nothing more than lens flares.

While panic initially gripped social media, cooler heads began to provide more scientific perspectives. Experts theorized that the mysterious lights were simply reflections in the night sky, rather than evidence of an alien invasion.

The incident highlights the ongoing public fascination with unidentified aerial phenomena. Despite repeated debunkings, the allure of potential extraterrestrial contact continues to capture the imagination of many.
