In a devastating turn of events that has deeply impacted the adventure and travel community, 22-year-old Belgian YouTuber Storm De Beul tragically lost his life during a solo hiking expedition in the harsh wilderness of Swedish Lapland.
Storm De Beul, a celebrated nature enthusiast and creator known for his solitary travel documentaries, met his untimely end on October 30 while trekking in the remote Jokkmokk region. His last hours were marked by an intense struggle to survive an unexpected and ferocious snowstorm.
As the weather deteriorated, De Beul reached out to emergency services around 2 a.m., reporting injuries and requesting urgent help. Despite the rescue teams’ efforts, relentless snowfall and the extreme conditions made reaching him impossible in time.

In his last video recording, De Beul documented the severity of his plight. “It’s going to become worse tonight. Jesus Christ,” he said, showing his snow-filled shoes and backpack. In a message to his grandmother, he wrote, “It’s snowing heavily here. But don’t worry, I’ll survive, you know.”
De Beul’s grandmother, Hedwig DJ, confirmed the tragic news to local media. “A very sad message: my eldest grandson, our sporty loner Storm, 22 years old, was found dead on October 30th in Swedish Lapland, where he had been doing outdoor trekking since this summer,” she shared with Leuven Actueel.
De Beul was reportedly a day’s walk from his car when the deadly storm hit. His body was discovered the next day in the isolated woods, a stark testament to the treacherous and unforgiving nature of the Scandinavian wilderness.
