The incident, caught on dashcam footage, shows the officer attempting to clear the roadway when gusty winds turned the massive pumpkin into a formidable, rolling obstacle.

A seasonal decoration turned the hazard

Dashcam footage reveals officer’s “Pumpkin Attack”

Dashcam footage from the officer’s patrol car shows him driving up to the wayward pumpkin. As he exits the vehicle to clear it from the road, a strong gust of wind blows, transforming the inflatable pumpkin into a rolling juggernaut. The enormous object knocked the officer off balance and even appeared to momentarily engulf him as it continued its course, eventually colliding with the police car itself. “The pumpkin rolled over the officer and completely swallowed the man before ending up in the police car,” the Bay Village Police Department confirmed in a social media post.

Backup to the rescue and a lighthearted resolution

Fortunately, both the officer and the runaway pumpkin escaped unharmed. A backup officer arrived to help secure the situation, and together, they managed to maneuver the pumpkin off the road. Eventually, it was returned to its owner, ending the Halloween caper with a lighthearted twist. “Luckily, no officers (or pumpkins) were harmed during the event,” the Bay Village Police Department shared. “Once backup officers arrived, the pumpkin was returned to the homeowner.”
