“I was like, ‘OK, well I’m not going to win,'” Vanhoose told Kentucky Lottery officials. However, fate had other plans. “I scratched it, and I saw it and I just took off running.”
The revelation of the $36,000 prize left Vanhoose so overwhelmed that she struggled to communicate the news to her family. Her aunt, recounting the moment, said simply, “She just kept screaming.”
The sudden windfall has left Vanhoose in a state of pleasant shock. While she hasn’t made any concrete plans for her winnings, she’s still trying to process her good fortune.
