100-year-old Jimmy Carter waits in line to vote for Kamala Harris, images take internet by storm

In a remarkable display of civic duty, 100-year-old former US President Jimmy Carter has captured national attention as he waited in line to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. This event comes after his grandson, Jason Carter, revealed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Carter was determined to live long enough to cast his vote, particularly for Harris. Reflecting on his grandfather’s resolve, Jason shared, “I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris.”
The images of Carter patiently queuing have gone viral, prompting mixed reactions from the public. Some expressed concern over the sight of the elderly statesman in line. A social media user commented, “The Kamala campaign is planning to harvest Jimmy Carter’s ballot today at the hospice facility where he’s being kept. Someone in Carter’s physical and mental state is unable to vote. He’s non-verbal, can’t move, and isn’t even aware he’s alive. This is criminal and disgusting.”
Another added, “Dude that was sad and degrading how they wheeled him out like that. Yeah no way he can vote.”

Despite the criticism, Carter’s commitment resonates with many, highlighting the enduring influence of his legacy.
This incident unfolds as early voting surges in Georgia, a pivotal swing state. Over 250,000 ballots were cast by 4 p.m. on the first day, nearly doubling the turnout of 2020. Georgia remains a key battleground, with former President Donald Trump vying to regain control in the 2024 election, while Harris’s popularity appears to be on the rise.

Adding to the election drama, a Georgia judge recently blocked a rule mandating hand-counting of ballots. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney’s ruling emphasized that “No election superintendent (or member of a board of elections and registration) may refuse to certify or abstain from certifying election results under any circumstance,” according to CNN.
Despite being in hospice care for over 19 months, Jimmy Carter remains engaged with current affairs. His grandson Jason shared that Carter is “more alert and interested in politics and the war in Gaza,” revealing that the former president continues to laugh and express love.
As Carter’s images circulate, they serve as a powerful reminder of his unwavering dedication to democracy, even at the age of 100.
