Kamala Harris Enjoys a Cold Brew on Late Night TV

In a refreshing twist on late-night television, Vice President Kamala Harris showcased her laid-back side, hinting at a possible change in the White House beverage culture. If Harris wins the upcoming election, she would be the first president in eight years who appreciates a good beer, contrasting with current teetotalers Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

A toast with Stephen Colbert

During her appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Harris embraced the opportunity to share a brew with the host. Colbert, known for his humorous and relaxed interviews, prompted Harris to crack open a can of Miller High Life, inviting her to join him for a drink. “Elections, I think, are won on vibes because one of the old saws is they just want somebody they can have a beer with,” Colbert quipped.

Carefully planned cheers

The show’s producers ensured everything was in place for the unique segment, confirming in advance what beverage would be appropriate for the vice president. As Harris accepted the 4.6 percent beer, she shared a personal anecdote: “OK, the last time I had beer was at a baseball game with Doug,” referring to her husband, Doug Emhoff. She raised the can in a cheerful toast, saying, “Cheers.”

A Nod to the Key Swing States

Colbert added a regional touch by mentioning Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the beer originates, acknowledging one of the decisive swing states for the 2024 presidential election. Harris playfully responded with the beer’s tagline, “The champagne of beers.”

Media Blitz continues

Harris’s appearance was part of a broader media strategy, including sessions with “The View” and a conversation with Howard Stern on SiriusXM. These platforms provided Harris with a supportive environment, free from challenging inquiries, allowing her to focus on her campaign’s key messages.

Taking on Trump

In her discussion with Colbert, Harris didn’t miss the chance to criticize former President Trump, particularly his refusal to accept the 2020 election results. “You know, when you lost millions of jobs, you lost manufacturing, you lost automotive plants, you lost the election, what does that make you? A loser,” she remarked, drawing laughter from the audience. “This is what happens when I drink beer,” she chuckled, highlighting her candid and relatable persona.

Kamala Harris’s relaxed demeanor and willingness to engage in lighthearted moments on national television may resonate with voters seeking a leader they can connect with on a personal level. Her appearance on Colbert’s show not only showcased her sense of humor but also subtly reinforced her campaign’s appeal.
