In a post on X late on Sunday, November 1, the former Fox News host named the target as Pickaxe Mountain, a fortified tunnel complex near Iran’s Natanz enrichment plant. He said Trump could decide by November 7.

Carlson offered no documents and cited one unnamed “informed observer.” Neither the White House nor the Israeli government has confirmed that nuclear weapons are under consideration. Trump himself ruled out nuclear use in a mid-October interview.

The claim lands on the eve of the midterms. US forces are building up in the region for possible new strikes on Iran. CSIS cites open-source estimates that put the facility 80 to 100 meters deep. That is roughly 260 to 330 feet, so Carlson’s “300 feet” sits inside the range. But the authors warn that those estimates rest on the volume of rock dug out. Satellite imagery “does not provide insight into the internal design of the facility,” they wrote.

None of the nuclear escalations Carlson warned about has happened. No country has used a nuclear weapon in war since the US bombed Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, according to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.

That does not settle the current claim either way. His earlier warnings described a direction of travel, while this one names a target, a source and a deadline. That makes it the first of these warnings that a calendar will test.

Carlson himself noted the stakes of the precedent. “No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war,” he wrote. “An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent.”

The next fixed points are close together. Americans vote in the midterms on Tuesday, November 3. Saturday, November 7, is the date by which Carlson says Trump is likely to decide.
