Admiration or Romance?

While swirling rumors about a potential romantic link between billionaire Elon Musk and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Musk’s mother, Maye, has offered her perspective. The speculation began when the pair appeared together at the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizen Awards dinner in Midtown.

Mother’s insight

Maye Musk, 76, responded to the chatter online, emphasizing her admiration for Meloni. “I was sitting next to Elon,” she noted in a post on X, directly addressing the speculation. Her son had previously denied any romantic involvement with Meloni, stating, “There is no romantic relationship whatsoever with PM Meloni.”

Rumors and reactions

The rumors ignited after photographs showed Musk, 53, and Meloni, 47, seemingly engrossed in conversation. However, Musk quickly quashed the gossip by clarifying he attended the event with his mother. Maye Musk further confirmed they returned to their hotel together after the event, sharing, “True,” in response to her son’s post.

Maye Musk shared a snapshot from the evening, describing it as “wonderful.” During the event, Musk introduced Meloni on stage, praising her as “authentic, honest, and thoughtful.” He remarked, “That can’t always be said about politicians,” drawing laughter from the audience.

Shared interests and past meetings

This wasn’t the first meeting between Musk and Meloni. The two have met several times, discussing topics like declining birth rates in the West and their optimism about artificial intelligence. Their shared interests have fueled speculation but have remained professional.

Meloni’s political stance

Meloni, Italy’s first female prime minister, rose to prominence as a conservative leader. Her recent split from long-term boyfriend Andrea Giambruno was publicized after a controversial audio recording surfaced. Meanwhile, Musk, a father of 12, recently welcomed a child with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.

While the evening sparked rumors, both Musk and Meloni maintain their relationship is purely platonic, centered on mutual admiration and shared interests.
