Former High School Math Teacher Faces Serious Charges

In a shocking case that has rocked the Missouri community, Hailey Clifton-Carmack, a 26-year-old former high school math teacher, has pleaded guilty to felony sexual contact with a 16-year-old student. This plea comes after her arrest in January, when allegations surfaced that she had engaged in sexual activities with the student in a driveway, while other students served as “lookouts,” reported People magazine.

Awaiting sentencing

Currently under house arrest, Clifton-Carmack is awaiting her sentencing on October 11. According to the probable cause statement, the student had shown another classmate photographs of scratches on his back, claiming they had been inflicted by Clifton-Carmack during their encounter. She faces up to four years in prison under Missouri’s Sex Offender Assessment Program.

Initially, Clifton-Carmack faced multiple charges including child molestation, statutory rape, and endangering the welfare of a child. However, these charges were dropped as part of a plea deal, leaving her with the lesser charge of sexual contact with a student.

Relocation and continued contact

The criminal complaint also stated that Clifton-Carmack maintained contact with the victim until December 23, after which she relocated to Texas to live with her family.

Father’s involvement and additional charges

A witness, whose identity remains confidential, alleged that the victim’s father was aware of the abuse but failed to intervene. When confronted, the father reportedly said, “They are going to do it behind my back, so I may as well let it happen,” and admitted to allowing students to act as “lookouts” during the trysts. He also claimed he would lie to protect his son if necessary.

The student’s father now faces felony charges for child endangerment. His case is currently on hold pending Clifton-Carmack’s sentencing on October 11.
