A fresh layer has emerged in the FBI’s probe into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with relatives of Tyler Robinson’s trans roommate claiming the relationship may have deepened the suspect’s hostility toward conservatives and Christians.

Robinson, 22, was arrested last week after Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University. Now, attention has turned to his domestic circle, including his roommate, who has been cooperating with investigators.

Family says roommate ‘hated’ Christians and conservatives

In an interview with Fox News Digital, a relative of Robinson’s trans partner alleged that the individual, identified in reports as Lance Twiggs, harbored animosity toward Christians and conservatives.

“He hates conservatives and Christians. He hated us. He was not raised that way, but over the years, he’s become detached [and] been radicalized,” the relative claimed.

The relative said Twiggs began changing around the age of 18 and had increasingly expressed political anger. They added that Robinson’s views worsened after he met Twiggs

What investigators are examining

While relatives suspect Robinson was influenced by Twiggs, the FBI has not confirmed any political motive. Officials told Fox News Digital that the partner was “aghast” after the shooting and has been fully cooperating, handing over communications and details about Robinson’s activities.

Authorities are investigating:

• Incriminating texts allegedly shared by Twiggs, including messages related to the firearm.
• Robinson’s online activity and gaming networks, where extremist views may have circulated.
• Whether Robinson’s resentment toward Kirk’s outspoken views on trans rights factored into the attack.

So far, no charges have been filed against Twiggs, but their relationship with Robinson remains a focal point in understanding the suspect’s radicalisation.

Confusion over identity: roommate vs. partner

Media coverage has led to conflicting portrayals of Twiggs’ role:

• The Daily Mail described Twiggs as Robinson’s roommate who helped the FBI by sharing texts.
• The New York Post and Fox News reports went further, describing Twiggs as Robinson’s trans partner, citing law enforcement sources.
• Social media speculation has blurred the two narratives, though no official statement has clarified whether Twiggs was both a roommate and partner, or if multiple people are involved.

This lack of clarity has fueled online debates about Twiggs’ identity and influence, underscoring the importance of caution as the investigation unfolds.

Why it matters

The allegations of radicalisation highlight how personal relationships can intersect with online subcultures—in this case, gaming communities and political discourse. FBI investigators are working to establish whether Robinson acted out of personal resentment, political motives, or a mix of both.

For now, Robinson faces charges in Kirk’s assassination, while Twiggs remains under scrutiny but not charged. The family’s claims add a dramatic twist to an already polarising case that has gripped national attention.

Key takeaways

• Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
• His transgender partner, identified in reports as Lance Twiggs, is alleged by relatives to have “hated” Christians and conservatives and to have influenced Robinson’s views.
• FBI officials say the partner is cooperating and has provided key evidence, including texts about the alleged weapon.
• Media reports conflict on whether Twiggs is Robinson’s roommate, partner, or both, leaving questions unanswered.
• Investigators are still probing Robinson’s motive, including whether Kirk’s stance on transgender issues played a role.
