Was the hospital shooting a targeted attack?

While details remain under investigation, Detroit police believe the incident was not random. Local 4 reported that Greene specifically confronted his ex-wife in the hospital basement before the fatal shooting.

The cause of their argument remains unclear, as does how Greene managed to enter the hospital’s restricted basement area. Officials have not confirmed whether Greene had any prior connection to Henry Ford Hospital.

Community and hospital response

Henry Ford Health issued a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family and emphasizing cooperation with law enforcement. Hospital officials also reassured the public that patient safety is their top priority and that additional security measures are being reviewed.

The incident has reignited concerns over gun violence in sensitive locations such as hospitals, where patients and staff are especially vulnerable.

What happens next?

Police are actively searching for Mario Greene and have urged the public to report any information about his whereabouts.

Authorities advise that if spotted, Greene should not be approached, as he is considered armed and dangerous. Instead, individuals should immediately call 911 or contact Detroit police.
